内容提要:
It is believed that dogs diverged from the Eurasian gray wolf. However, the divergence may have occurred from an extinct population of gray wolves, as no other gray wolf populations are closely related to the dog lineage. Regarding the origin of dogs, the diversity of mitochondrial DNA haplotypes and genome analysis have pointed to several candidate regions, including southern East Asia, the Middle East, Central Asia, Siberia, and Europe. This topic remains under debate, as no studies have yet been conducted to explore potential ancestral sites using an outgroup of the dogs. By analyzing the genomes of dogs, Japanese wolves, Eurasian gray wolves, and Pleistocene wolves, I will talk when and where the dog lineage diverged from gray wolf populations. Additionally, I will discuss the early evolution of dogs in East Asia, utilizing the presence of the Japanese wolf genome in the genomes of East Eurasian dogs.
讲者简介:
Dr. Yohey Terai is an Associate Professor at the Research Center for Integrative Evolutionary Science, SOKENDAI (The Graduate University for Advanced Studies), Japan. He completed his doctoral research at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He has been studying adaptation and speciation with African cichlids since he was a PhD student. He then showed that visual adaptation causes nuptial color differentiation, leading to speciation. Currently, he studies adaptation to the environment and speciation using fish, corals, and lichens. Recently, he has been studying the evolution of dogs using ancient DNA to understand how dogs have adapted to human society. As a first step, he revealed the origin of the dogs. In today's lecture, he will talk about the origins of the dogs.
